Eggs are collected daily, candled, and refrigerated the same day. Every carton is labeled with its collection date, so you know exactly how fresh it is.

Most items have no minimum. Hatching eggs have a minimum of 6 and chicks a minimum of 3, noted right on the order page.

Yes! Once your order is marked completed, you can leave a star rating and review using your confirmation code on the reviews page.

Yes - that's our custom hatching service. Pick the egg colors you want and how many, and we gather them fresh, set them in our incubator, and look after them until they hatch about three weeks later. You collect the chicks once they're dry and eating well.

It all comes down to diet. While they have access to grass at all times, the eggs they produce can look different. In the spring, they are eating lush green grass, and this can make the yolks VERY orange. I say “can” because not all hens eat the same amount of greens. Some hens forego the feeder for fresh grass, some are just the opposite, so the color of the yolk will vary. When the grass isn’t as plentiful and fresh, like in winter, the yolks will be more yellow. We let our girls and the seasons decide the color of their yolks, not feed additives.

Not all of them, and we'd rather say so up front. Some eggs turn out not to be fertile, and some fertile eggs stop developing partway through. A good batch usually hatches somewhere around half to two thirds of the eggs set, but an unlucky batch can be much lower. You're paying for the eggs and the incubation, not for a guaranteed number of chicks - the hatching page shows an honest estimate as you build your clutch.

That's the whole idea. The hatching page lists the colors our hens are laying right now with a swatch for each, and you choose how many of each you'd like. Chick color isn't guaranteed to match the egg it came from, but egg color is strongly inherited, so a blue egg is a good bet for a future blue layer.
